1990 Corrado 1.8 G60

In 1992 a very special edition of the Corrado VR6 was introduced: The Corrado Campaign.

'Taken from the initial batch, they were then whisked off to the interior shop and given brick red leather interiors. They were fitted with red carpets and red steering wheels etc. The exteriors were sprayed in Dusty Mauve, a colour hitherto unheard of on Corrados. Only 6 were ever built, unfortunately there are now only 5 left - one was written off in 1999. These vehicles were originally presented to the UK's best VW Karmann dealers to do with as they saw fit, no retail price was set on them. All six appear to have been sold around the 21,000 pound mark, with hindsight, this appears to have been a bit of a bargain'.

1994 Corrado 2.9 VR6

I just missed out on buying one last week with 74000 miles on the clock, stupid dealer did not bother to phone me back to say he had someone else interested as he knew I was coming to look at it, some guy bought it as an 'Investment', where I would have actually driven it to shows as a concours Campaign, ah well who knows in the future

I think i saw that advertising on the Campaign for sale in the UK 'Wish'. Was really cheap thought and got me thinking - maybe a replica??? Is there a special production plate in these to identify its originality???

1994 Corrado 2.9 VR6

@ Tornado aka Nick, I was thinking the same thing and did a bit of research on the internet and apparently there was a replica in southern England, same paint, same interior, but not originally a Campaign, so if that was the one I nearly bought then I've had a lucky escape. Also I found out that one of the 4 remaining Campaigns may have been in an accident, and that one in southern England again had been spotted regularly and was apparently running rough. Not sure if they had special serial numbers though, I understand that the Storms do not have special numbers either??

'Wish' from what i know of Storm's didn't have a special serial number plate, but i guess someone can confirm it's originality by checking the VIN number through a VW dealer???

@Nick, Yes you could probably check with VW UK/HQ in Milton Keynes, someone will know the answer.
